About ASA-CF08
Fiberon™ ASA-CF08 is an 8% carbon fiber-reinforced acrylonitrile styrene acrylate filament engineered for superior rigidity and dimensional accuracy. This advanced material combines excellent UV and weather resistance with a lightweight, matte finish, ensuring both performance and aesthetics. Its enhanced mechanical strength and stability make it a reliable choice for functional prototypes, outdoor components, and end-use parts in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

Our goal is to make materials with a key characteristic - advanced materials that are easy to use for anyone, coming from any industry, without the need of an advanced technological skill set.Can the ASA-CF08 be printed with an open printer?
We still recommend printing with a printer that has a closed chamber. Although the addition of carbon fiber helps to reduce warpage during printing, the ASA material itself has a high Tg, and cooling it too quickly can cause excessive internal stresses in the print, and there is still a risk of cracking when printing taller objects on printers without closed environment.
Does ASA-CF08 have an odor when printing and is this odor harmful?
ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) filaments, including ASA-CF08, release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as styrene when heated. Exposure to VOCs like styrene can lead to health issues, including respiratory irritation, headaches, and dizziness. Prolonged or repeated exposure may increase the risk of more serious health effects.
Safety Recommendations
To minimize health risks when printing with ASA-CF08:
Ensure Proper Ventilation: Operate your 3D printer in a well-ventilated area to disperse harmful fumes.
Use Enclosures with Filtration: Employ printer enclosures equipped with activated carbon or HEPA
filters to capture and neutralize VOCs.
Avoid Enclosed Living Spaces: Do not place the printer in bedrooms or other areas where prolonged human exposure can occur.
By following these safety measures, you can reduce the potential health risks associated with printing ASA-CF08 filament.
